Farm Share Studio is a project developed by Laura Shore to connect her love of art with her love of food and the agricultural landscape.
When Laura began to paint again after 30 years in
marketing and communications, she chose as her
subjects the fresh fruits and vegetables that arrived every week from her local farm share CSA. She quickly recognized the link between this abundance and the survival of small family farms that dot the landscape near her home in Altamont, New York. She created
Farm Share Studio as a way to explore these themes through painting, photography, writing and advocacy.
Laura’s small, jewel-like paintings were inspired by northern Renaissance portraits. They feature carefully observed produce on richly hued backgrounds. The
vegetables are painted with all their quirky imperfections in an impressionistic style using contemporary color palettes. Each painting is labeled with the farm
or farm stand of origin.
